about

The parisian duet Maninkari started their project Sphyxion in 2011 as they wanted to reconnect with their minimal/cold/new wave influences (Mute Records from the early 80s, 4AD and Stevo's Some Bizarre are part of their references).

For 3 years the band kept experimenting until they delivered the final version of this retro-futuristic music, exploring the tension between past and future.
The album is a sort of fiction about events that may have happened but somehow didn't.

The structure of each track evolves around repetitive patterns in which the drum machine is predominant and brings along nostalgic, minor tones.
Drones are mixed up in some tracks, creating variations in the mood of each tune. Voice samples emerge regularly, appearing like a collection of haunted lasting memories.
